Building Progress Report
June 30, 2010
The landscape is rapidly changing across Marshall Street on the VCU Health System Campus. As of June 14, 2010, all of the connecting pedestrian bridges between Main Hospital, Sanger Hall, and the AD Williams building have been taken down.
Over the next four weeks, the Construction Team will begin to physically separate AD Williams from the West Hospital Building. This activity will involve jack-hammering floor slabs and physically removing brick and steel currently connecting the AD Williams Building to West Hospital "by hand." By the end of July 2010, AD Williams will be completely separated from West Hospital above the first floor.
The first step in this process will be the removal of the AD Williams Dome which will start sometime around July 1, 2010. After the dome is removed, roof demolition and upper floor separation will begin and continue through August 2010.
As always, the Construction Team appreciates the University community's patience and understanding throughout this demolition and construction process.
