Building Progress Report
July 28, 2011
Concrete trucks at 3:00 AM, pump trucks leaving the site at 9:00 AM, steel deliveries at 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, ductwork deliveries at 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM, rebar deliveries at 3:30 PM, electrical deliveries at Noon, 1:00 PM, 4:00 PM, and banging all day from 7 AM to 5 PM . . .
As the structure continues to go up, the space around the project site is getting more and more congested every day. There are a lot of people on site coordinating this effort and making sure that there is as little interruption to the surrounding streets as possible. As always, the construction team appreciates the University Community’s patience and cooperation throughout this construction process and hopes you enjoy watching the work progress as much as we enjoy working on it.
The building structure (steel) operation began in the middle of April 2011, and is now up to the 7th floor. There are concrete floors poured up to the 4th floor with stairs that can be visible on the North side of the building. Building mechanical and electrical systems are being installed in the lower floors.
The steel erecting has approximately five months left and will top out sometime in December of 2011. The structure will tower above the surrounding Medical Science Building and the MCV Hospital Buildings. In late August 2011, the building skin will start to go on and is scheduled to be finished sometime around January of next year.
