GlaxoSmithKline’s new U.S. corporate headquarters is an eight-story, 215,000 SF office building located at Three Franklin Plaza in Center City Philadelphia. The orientation and exterior reflect the building’s prominent location along the city’s major inbound promenade and position it as a gateway to the Philadelphia skyline. The building’s facades are designed to respond to the specific urban context. The north facade is formed by a large convex curved curtainwall to establish its presence along the Vine Street Expressway, while the 16th Street elevation establishes the primary entry for the building. A new pedestrian bridge links the new building with existing GlaxoSmithKline buildings. The building was designed in phases with future vertical expansion planned to a total of 16 floors. |
