Merck’s new U.S. Human Health Headquarters is the first phase to be completed in the planned implementation of a Master Plan for a 1.2 million square foot new corporate office campus. Designed with a two-story high circulation spine connecting all of the building components, the strategy responds to two key goals established by Merck: flexibility of use and ease of expansion. The all-glass spine bounds a central lawn and courtyard, and connects all public gathering spaces with the radiating office wings, serving as the link between the office wings and core campus services. This public connection space is flooded with natural light and animated by open bridges and cantilevered stairs and balconies. |
