Vistakon, the Johnson & Johnson vision products division, consolidated their R&D operations from several locations in the Jacksonville, Florida area, onto a single site.  The consolidation at their manufacturing site, Deerwood Park, achieves synergies reflective of a "platform concept" of research organization in which different teams focus on design, materials, etc.  This facility includes research laboratories (micro-biology, chemistry, metrology), offices, a development pilot line and related support functions.  The facility is planned and designed to allow for the flexibility to convert groups of technician work stations within the central column bay to laboratories.
