Barry Finkelstein, PE An Engineering Principal at Ballinger, Barry has focused his 35-year career on designing unconventional solutions for technologically complex facilities and infrastructure in academic and corporate research facilities, and for healthcare institutions. He has presented topics on energy conservation and facilities design in national forums including Tradeline and the Federal Construction Council. Barry received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University.

Jeffrey S. French, FAIA As the Director of Research & Development facilities for Ballinger, Jeff serves as the Managing Partner for Ballinger’s most significant science facility projects. He has served as a grant review panelist for the National Science Foundation and is a highly respected lecturer for organizations such as the Association of American Medical Colleges, the Food and Drug Administration and the New York Academy of Sciences. Jeff received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Princeton University and his Master of Architecture from the University of Virginia. |

Jonathan Friedan, PE Jonathan is the Director of Engineering, spearheading mechanical and electrical systems programming, planning and design of the firm’s major institutional and corporate facilities. He authored the engineering sections for the National Science Foundation’s guidebook on research facilities, and gives lectures nationally on sustainable HVAC design and retrofit strategies. An active member of ASHRAE, ISPE and the American Society for Hospital Engineers, Jonathan completed both his undergraduate and Masters degrees in Mechanical Engineering at Columbia University. |

William R. Gustafson, FAIA Bill’s focus is research, design and implementation of science facilities for colleges and universities. He actively participates in planning projects, particularly the translation of strategic and business goals into built reality. The recipient of numerous awards, he has been widely published and has been a frequent presenter at forums nationwide, including Tradeline, Inc., the Society for College and University Planning, and the Association of American Medical Colleges. Bill received his Bachelor in Architecture degree from the University of Michigan and his Master of Architecture from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. |

Edward B. Jakmauh, FAIA, ACHA, LEED AP Ed is responsible for oversight of all of Ballinger’s health facilities programming, planning and design work. In his 30 years with the firm, he has completed significant large-scale projects that have acted as catalysts for urban rejuvenation. He was a Fulbright Research Fellow in Regional Planning at the London School of Economics, and has degrees in Architecture and Urban Planning from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the Harvard Graduate School of Design. |

Louis A. Meilink, Jr., AIA, ACHA Lou has developed a national practice focusing on programming, planning, and design of health facilities. For the last 18 years, his design solutions have helped shape the future of healthcare for academic medical centers, regional and community hospitals and major healthcare systems. He is currently participating in a Pebble Project, a program developed by The Center for Health Design. An author and frequent speaker for organizations such as the Association of American Medical Colleges and The American Institute of Architects, Lou received his Bachelor of Architecture from the Kansas State University. |

Keith C.H. Mock, AIA Keith leads the planning and management of the firm’s office and research facilities, commercial development, mixed-use retail, and hospitality as well as multi-family and density housing. His 24 years’ experience in these markets brings a strong vision and order to the firm’s resources. He establishes and cultivates solid personal relationships and networks with significant corporate, institutional, development, and public representatives throughout the tri-state area. Keith received his Bachelor of Science degree from Spring Garden College and his Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Fine Arts. |

Craig S. Spangler, AIA In his 23 years as a designer, Craig’s focus spans the broad spectrum of campus buildings including designs for academic, student life, and administrative facilities as well as campus master planning. He first gained national attention with his winning design for the Matteson Public Library Competition outside of Chicago and has been published in the AIA Journal and Harvard Architectural Review. Mr. Spangler holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Maryland and a Master of Architecture from Princeton University. |

Terry D. Steelman, FAIA, LEED AP In his 28-year career, he has become a nationally acclaimed designer and the recipient of state, national and international design awards. His philosophy guides the development of project process, building concepts and firm image, celebrating the richness of site, context and program that is the heart of each project. In 2003, he served as AIA Philadelphia President, guiding one of the most influential AIA chapters in the country. Terry received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas School of Architecture and his Master of Architecture degree from Washington University. |

Eric Swanson, AIA As a designer who has spent the greater part of his career with Ballinger, Eric leads the design process for the significant healthcare projects of the firm. He is particularly skilled at solving the unique and complex set of challenges associated with healthcare. In the pursuit of his architecture degree, he studied at Kobenhavns Universitet in Copenhagen and earned his Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Building Science degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. |
