Architecture
We develop creative approaches not only to form and expression, but also to programmatic and spatial arrangements that sponsor experientially rich but efficient new ways of working. We are engaged in a constant search for innovative, more sustainable ways to incorporate infrastructure systems in our push beyond carbon neutral toward regenerative projects.
Each of our architecture studios is comprised of small groups that represent a cross-section of skill sets and experience levels. The scale of the studios promotes interaction among all staff levels. Within the studio structure, project teams work holistically with planning specialists, interior designers, and the engineering disciplines.
Collectively, we meld proven practices with new technologies, materials, and assembly methods that foment interesting architecture; we employ both virtual and physical modeling techniques in our investigations of these systems. Our teams rely on individual inventiveness as well as collaborative contributions. We encourage our associates to cultivate a spirit of ownership in their projects and in their professional development, as we work, share, learn and achieve together.
Engineering
We seek to integrate the latest in proven technology with exceptional design to provide solutions that are: sustainable, simple, adaptable to change, efficient and safe. In a world of ever more valuable and constrained resources, design of building systems and campus infrastructure demands careful attention and wise choices. We work closely with those who will occupy facilities as well as those who will operate them to make sure that there is a good long term fit between design and client objectives.
We bring the particular expertise of each discipline - mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, structural, lighting, building controls, information technologies, commissioning, testing and balancing - to create an integrated team that best fits the project need. We approach projects from a theoretical, analytical and practical perspective using tools such as 3D modeling (BIM), climate analysis, energy modeling, short circuit/fault current analysis, hydraulic /piping system modeling, illumination modeling, water use modeling, and life cycle cost analysis, to inform our design process.
Through collaborations with architects, interior designers, and builders, we are moving toward a more efficient approach to design, construction and operation embedding constructability and long term efficiency into the process. Our dedication to energy efficient design has been engrained in our culture from its beginnings. We take seriously the challenge of working toward net zero facilities looking for cost effective solutions appropriate to each individual client.
Interiors
We strive to create sensory, tactile, and spatially rich environments that are extensions of the architectural ideas which frame a building. As an integrated team, interior designers work alongside architects and engineers, engaging with our clients to program, plan, document and furnish holistic and responsible projects.
The interior design studio represents a significant percentage of our design staff, and cultivates a distinctive identity within the Ballinger community. Our portfolio of interior environments stretches across a range of corporate, academic, research and healthcare settings, inspiring collaboration, intellectual interaction, invention, and healing.
Our experienced and knowledgeable staff possesses a wide array of skills, including specific expertise in programming, space planning, furniture specification, and lighting. All share a commitment to a coherent and harmonious design aesthetic which employs concepts, materials, and details that will stand the test of time.
