The George Washington University

Ballinger is designing a new Science and Engineering Hall for George Washington University on its Foggy Bottom Campus. This will be the first major new laboratory building on its campus in 50+ years. As such, it will be the focal point of a rapidly expanding research emphasis, and will transform the University’s capabilities and reputation in key areas of academic pursuit. Moreover, it will alter the paradigm for inter- and multi-disciplinary research and learning, providing new multi-modal instructional and research labs, and it will be a collaborative center for inter-disciplinary research and instruction between the Departments of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Hominid Paleobiology at the Colombian College of Applied Science (CCAS), the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) and the School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS), as well as collaborators from other areas of the University. The project includes research laboratories, teaching laboratories, laboratory support, research core facilities, office space, team rooms and interaction space, shared support, retail space, public space, building support, mechanical and electrical equipment spaces, shell space, related site improvements, utility extensions and relocations, service access, and site planning.
